Aymeric grew up playing for Sporting Union Agen, his city of birth. He joined Athletic Club youth teams in 2009 after a tournament that he played for the Aquitaine team. During 2009-10 season he played with Aviron Bayona on loan even though he used to train with Athletic youth team under 15. The following season he would definitively join Athletic under 19 squad. In February 2011 he plays his first match with Athletic first team on a friendly game, and right after that he signs his first professional contract.
After starting 2012-13 season with Athletic second team he makes his debut with Athletic on November the 28th on a team directed by Marcelo Bielsa: it was a Europe League match against Hapoel Kiryat Shmona. He becomes naturally a regular on the starting line up both playing as a center back or as a left back. On December 2012 the club notified Aymeric Laporte that he was becoming a first team player.
During 2013-14 season Aymeric performed great playing next to Gurpegui and he became one of the players in the best team of the Spanish championship. Athletic Club finished the season in the fourth position and classified for the European Champions League.
On 2014/15 season he was already a key player on Athletic starting line up becoming a referent on defense. He played 49 matches and played his first final with Athletic Club at Camp Nou versus FC Barcelona: it was the Spanish king's cup.
2015-16 season launched with a trophy: Athletic beat FC Barcelona for the Super Cup final. Aymeric Laporte played a great championship but he got injured by the end of the season that prevented him from playing the Eurocup and put an end to his season prematurely.
On June the 13th 2016 Athletic announced Aymeric's contract extension until 2020 which consolidates his position with Athletic Club.
Aymeric Laporte played for the French National Team for U17, U18, U19 and U21. He has played Serbia 2011 U17 Eurocup and Mexico U17 world Cup the same year. With the U19 French squad he played the 2013 Lithuania Eurocup and was the team captain. He was on the championship and was on the best team of the Championship. He made his debut for the U21 national team in a classifier for the category Eurocup in October 2013.
